Write for us
Bright Discovery welcomes pitches that make visual thinking easier to see. We are interested in clear, focused contributions about diagrams, maps, symbols, charts and layout, written for curious readers rather than a specialist audience.
What makes a good pitch
Propose one defined question or visual idea, explain why it deserves a closer look and sketch the main points your piece would make. Strong pitches are specific, evergreen and grounded in examples that can be described accurately. We welcome explainers, comparisons, visual histories and close readings that do not depend on unsupported claims.
A clear, considered voice
Write plainly and give readers enough context to follow the reasoning. Avoid jargon unless you explain it, and distinguish what a visual shows from what you infer from it. Original work is required; disclose relevant interests or relationships connected to the subject.
Send a proposal
Send pitches and a brief description of your relevant experience through the Contact page, choosing the editorial question option. Please include your proposed angle and a few lines on how you would develop it. A proposal is not a guarantee of publication.
Clarity is made, not assumed.
Every visual explanation makes choices about what to show, what to leave out and where to lead the eye. We look closely at those choices.
